I BELIEVE I’LL DUST MY BROOM
Hi.
No longer is Mango Pudding Blues generated in a cluttered corner in the dining room; no. Now we are typing this in our own private office, a small but lovely blue Mangotarium on the third floor of our house. The computer and the little digital piano and a closet full of our books and old photography gear, and a fat ceramic chinatown buddha, and that’s it.
And nobody told me about house love. House love! Like the love you feel for your school or your car or your girl, it’s a true love. A big love. My house is all crumbly, a hundred years old and kitty-corner to a transmission repair garage and pigeons live in the roof and the bathroom door handle came off in my hand on the first day and the entire shower curtain rod assembly fell down and the front inside door hinges were on backwards and the door wouldn’t shut and we have a dryer in our dining room because it won’t fit down the stairs, and I do believe this is the finest house I’ve ever set foot in. House love.
