RISK AVERSION

Today, we at Mango Pudding Blues remind you to do that thing you think you ought to do but are a little bit scared of doing. To help you, we hereby regale you with two quotes from an article in Communication Arts November 2004 issue by D.K. Holland.

“Having guts always works out for me.”

“What we don’t get is that failure usually has a different impact than we think it will have. You can lose everything, but still be happy. This is hard for most people to imagine.”

The article is about the TED 2004 conference. The first quote is a “life lesson” that designer Stefan Sagmeister (we know, we know; don’t get us started) cited in his talk there. The second thought is based on the talk by a Harvard psychology prof.

Bonus question: TED; really cool thing, or kind of nauseatingly full of itself thing? We at Mango Pudding Blues are not sure.
