We quote, here, from the March release edition of the LCBO’s fine Vintages wine catalog:

“On January 23, 2002, it was announced that by using DNA fingerprinting, UC Davis grapevine geneticist Carole Meredith has finally proven that Zinfandel and Primitivo are actually a Croatian grape called Crljenak.”

For those few readers who were engaged in the robust Primitivo/Zinfandel debate, this should lay matters to rest. Now, let’s all bury these bygones and find some Crljenak to try.

The tight core of ‘in’ bloggers likes to say, sneeringly, that one of the appalling hallmarks of the dabbler, the dilettante, the junior blogger is to apologize for not posting daily.

“As if your readers care,” they say. “You’re not that important,” they say. We at Mango Pudding Blues disagree wholeheartedly. We feel quite snubbed when our favorite bloggers miss a day. And we actually get enraged and curse when they miss a couple of days. And we have been known to send letters of concern when they miss too many days.

We expect no less than an apology.
